SUNDAY SCHOOL

Join us for Sunday school from 9:30 – 10:30 am September - May.  All classes are open to newcomers. 

The Nursery is available for infants through 3 years old during the Sunday school hour. 

Children and Youth

Ages 2 and 3 will meet in the nursery. Beth Vester will be telling Bible stories using Spark: Activate Faith. 

Ages 4  - Kindergarten will be led by Samantha Kelly and will use the Whirl Classroon program. 

1st and 2nd grade will meet downstairs with Robyn Kirkendall and Catie Martino, and  3rd, 4th and 5th grades will meet downstairs with Ashley Cox.   

6th-8th Grade - Middle School led by Sara Doyle and Murray Korman will utilize the Confirmation Curriculum Echo: The Story 36 to deepen the youth's understand of God and how to live out their faith, but discussion will be held separately from the high school students for age appropriate conversations.

9th-12th Grade - High School led by Scott Karsner and Darlene McAlister will also discuss the curriculum Echo: The Story 36 to deepen the youth's understand of God and how to live out their faith, but discussion will be held separately from the middle school students for age appropriate conversations.

Adult Forum discusses The Wired Word, an e-mail Bible lesson delivered to your inbox every Thursday.  The lesson explores a current event, using scriptural references and provocative discussion questions.  This class is led by Fern & Eric Bowman and meets in the Hathorne Room.

LAUGH (Living Always Under God’s Hand) does various studies that the class chooses.  This class meets in the library in the basement of the Sanctuary.

Moms Class  Experience Asbury’s own Sunday version of  EAT ♥  PRAY ♥ LOVE as we:

  • feed the spirit
  • offer prayer, and
  • love being in each other’s company

Mothers of all ages are invited. Books provided.  Moms meet during the Sunday School hour.  Facilitated by Tricia Kelly, mom of 3.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

This is a joyful week where children gather to learn about God with a new theme each year.  

BIBLE STUDY

Tuesday Evening Bible Study is a group of 10 -16 men and women that have been meeting weekly for several years to study a variety of scriptural programs.  The group has chosen various studies and for the last year or so has been studying programs from Kerygma. The programs have been very diverse and have included, Exodus - Gateway to the Bible, Into the World - The Acts of the Apostles, Parables - Stories for Life in God's World, The Light Will Shine - A Study for Advent.

September 25 - November 6  The Book of Isaiah, Part 1 a Kerygma program.

November 13 - December 18 The Journey: A Season of Reflections: Walking the Road to Bethlehem by Adam Hamilton

Wednesday Morning Bible Study 

2018

Oct 3 - Nov 14 Unafraid by Adam Hamilton, with video and study guide. Explores how Biblical scripture helps us to live with courage and hope during today's anxious times.

2019

Jan 9 - Mar 6 

Christianity and World Religions by Adam Hamilton, with video and study guide. "Since 2/3 of the world's population are not Christian, Hamilton's aim is that we understand our neighbors religions and are better able to love them, while at the same time we better understand our own faith." Includes: Islam, Hindu, Buddhism, Jewish and Christianity.

BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP

Asbury’s Book Discussion Group has chosen 6 selections for 2018.  The meeting dates and selections are described HERE.  The group is open to newcomers and meets in the Fisherman classroom at 7:30 pm on the dates noted.  In December, the group has a dinner meeting at a member’s house and they select the books for the next year at that meeting.

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

United Methodist Women meet on a monthly basis in members’ homes at 7:30 p.m. the second Monday of the month.  

The group supports their mission commitment through pledging.
